The Online Era – Article 9

With a new year comes a clean slate and an opportunity to start fresh and set new goals. It’s a chance to reflect and improve on what happened last year and create simple, realistic resolutions and put them into action.
What would you like to accomplish in 2024? If meeting someone special and starting a new chapter sounds appealing – online dating might be an option.
We’ve already covered how to set up your online dating profile and search filters. I’ve explained the types of people you will likely meet and how best to weed out the creeps, catfish and scammers before becoming invested. Finally, we’ve talked about safety when meeting IRL and I’ve shared my own online dating journey that started in 2019.
The biggest thing that I have learned is that most people fear the unknown. They tend to shy away from commitment and from being vulnerable to minimize being hurt. They are afraid of failure and what family and friends will think if they meet someone online. Why? Why is dating online still taboo in 2024? In a time where the average person spends more than six hours online every single day – this shocks me.
Online dating offered me access to a diverse dating pool with more than just locals to pick from. It was easy and convenient and taught me exactly what I want and need in a partner. It challenged my views and opinions. And then – it found me my soul mate.
My advice? Looking for a needle in a haystack may seem overwhelming at first – but it is worth every ounce of effort. Start your journey and stop wasting time. Life is too short.
