Last weekend Mike and I went on our first real “vacation”. It was three days with no children, no parents, no friends and no dogs. We drove for almost 16 hours together listening to music and laughing at my road rage as we headed to the Luke Combs concert in Cincinnati. We had a great time! It was comfortable and drama-free and I cannot WAIT for our next adventure!
When you are dating long distance, every minute together is precious. I always try to be mindful and present…but I want to capture rare and important moments as well. There is a fine line that needs to be walked when taking pics and vids and trying to be ‘in the moment’. Being grounded and present is so hard these days…everyone is in a rush and our lives are very “scheduled”. We did our best to slow down, breathe and just enjoy each other’s. We tried to stay off our phones and off social media during the trip.
When you are out for dinner with someone – turn off your phone. When you are supposed to be enjoying time together – let the rest of the world wait. My advice today is to be alive and awake in the now. Not yesterday. Not tomorrow. The present is a gift – hence why we call it the “present”. Time slows down for no one.
