Back on Earth at the house of Ichabode’s parents, Kassandra is standing eerily still outside the door to the secret room with her left hand resting flat against it while her right arm, caught in a swinging motion is mid air and her fist is clenched like she’s been banging on the door. . She’s frozen and stuck in a catatonic state, paused in time until Ichabode and Akasha return from their cosmic journey to Posteriori Prime. The look on her face is of worry with her eyes wide open, eyebrows up and arched and her mouth awkwardly half open with her teeth grinding together. Her mind is in a limbo dream state, and when Ichabode and Akasha come back, it would be to her as if they’ve never left and just stuck in the secret room for a few moments.
Also back on Earth, at her Castle far from the city and up on the highest hill, Voluspa is about to gaze deeply into her black mirror to gain some insight on Morky Mork’s progress. As she lights a single candle that is off to the side, she says intently,
“Surface dark, still and deep,
Secrets that the shadows keep,
Open now a window wide
Let the inner knowing ride
Reflections stir, a subtle gleam
Beyond the veil, a waking dream.
Show me what I need to see
Where is my hunter, that fat bastard Morky?”
The mirror then activates with a smokey swirl that starts from the centre and spreads to its edges, as the smoke clears an image starts to slowly illuminate to reveal where Morky is and what he is doing.
The mirror activates with a smokey swirl from the centre to the edges, slowly illuminating to show a scene with Morky Mork and his new friend Chadwick discussing a headline on a newspaper which reads “Ichabode La Valliere Wins Race For Mayor!”
Upon seeing the newspaper headline, Voluspa gasps and lashes out to the mirror with disgust. She asks the mirror to focus on the entire article so that she would be able to read it.
Ichabode La Valliere Wins as Mayor.
La Valliere Sweeps to Victory in Sault Ste. Marie Mayoral Race
SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – In a stunning upset that has shaken the political landscape of Sault Ste. Marie, Ichabode La Valliere has been elected as the city’s new mayor. La Valliere, a relative newcomer to local politics, secured a decisive victory over long-time incumbent, Mayor Carol Jenkins, in yesterday’s municipal election.
The atmosphere at La Valliere’s campaign headquarters was electric as the results came in, with supporters cheering and celebrating late into the night. La Valliere, addressing the jubilant crowd, promised a new era of transparency and community-focused leadership.
“I am deeply humbled and honoured by the trust the people of Sault Ste. Marie have placed in me,” La Valliere stated. “This victory is not mine alone; it belongs to every resident who believes in a brighter future for our city. I pledge to work tirelessly to deliver on the promises of progress and unity that defined our campaign.”
The election saw a record turnout, with many voters citing La Valliere’s fresh perspective and innovative ideas as key factors in their decision. La Valliere’s campaign focused on revitalizing the local economy, investing in infrastructure, and fostering a stronger sense of community engagement.
Outgoing Mayor Jenkins, while expressing disappointment with the results, congratulated La Valliere on his victory and wished him well in his new role. The transition of power is expected to take place in the coming weeks.
La Valliere’s victory marks a significant turning point for Sault Ste. Marie, signalling a desire for change and a new direction for the city’s future.
Voluspa, even more disgusted stammers, “By the festering heart of the abyss, what kind of treachery is this? This accursed reflection mocks my power! Did the fates themselves conspire to spit on my witchery? I will not tolerate such insolence and whoever meddled with my design, be they mortal or meddling spirit, will learn the true meaning of agony. Mark my words, this setback is but a prelude to a darkness they cannot fathom!”
