As they all get into Khonsu’s technologically modified sedan, Ichabode advises them that the house is located in the new smart neighbourhood in the eastern valley of the city.
The view changes quite drastically as they approach the neighbourhood. The hillside plays host to a vast array of houses, each a testament to individual expression, yet bound by a shared architectural purpose. Very thin and tall dwellings are squeezed together on either side and decorated with perfectly pruned trees on the curbside of each property. The street lights somehow seem to know the path they are driving, for the lights illuminate their path as they drive. Ichabode tells Akasha that his parents’ house is a historical site set in the midst of a park so that the house does not interfere with the look of the newer development. Kassandra follows Ichabode’s directions and after circling around the park, are soon in front of a large iron security gate. “It’s alright, I know the code to open the gate,” stated Ichabode. “My parents are away right now at some sort of spiritual retreat.” Akasha, out of caution, initiates a scan of the surrounding area from a computer in Khonsu’s vehicle for any electronic or electromagnetic fields. She only detects a slight constant digital noise. The gate closes behind them as they slowly make their way up the driveway to the front door of the house. Ichabode, and company exit the vehicle and all take a moment to familiarize themselves with the current surroundings.
Akasha, and Kassandra follow Ichabode up the ornate winding staircase to the upper floor. Ichabode grabs mechanism to pull down the stairway which leads to the attic. A loud creak could be heard as the staircase unfolded in front of them. The smell of musk and mildew encapsulated their senses as the ascended to the attic. The room is dark and seemed to be quite cluttered from the available light that there was. “We’ve got our work cut out for us,” states Akasha.
Ichabode, after searching for a few minutes was finally able to shed light on their surroundings. The light switch was hidden behind an old dusty bookshelf. The light flickered and the a sudden sharp smell of burnt dust permeated the attic. Ichabode thought to himself that the bookshelf would be a good place to start. Upon examining the bookshelf filled with various papers, documents, some empty boxes, and trinkets, he notices a metal container at the bottom. Upon closer inspection, he notices that the front door has a familiar looking hand symbol on it and that this metal container has some sort of electronic looking mechanism to it. Ichabode keeps silent as he continues his search for what it was they came there for. His mind is now like a whirlwind of thoughts as to the contents of that locked metal container. Startling everyone in the silence, Kassandra exclaimed, “quickly … over here, you’ve got to see this!”
