It only took about ten minutes or so for Oleg to work his magic finishing up Nelson’s trim and shave. With a dazzling spin of the towel and a final sweep of the fallen hair, Oleg confidently whipped out the hand held mirror to show Nelson the final results of his masterpiece.
Oleg: “Well everyone! How does the new and improved version of Nelson look? Most importantly, how do you like it sir?”
Nelson: “Young man, you have done a suburb job. I will be happy to endorse you.”
Renata: “Bravo!! Nelson you look so dapper. Oh, Miss A! Can we keep him? Can we keep him?”
Dio: “We are not adopting a labradoodle!”
Antoinnette: “I do have a glowing vibe with this young gentleman. Nelson has even given his thumbs up for doing a good job. It now boils down to you Jasmine. You get the final say if he is joining this team.”
Jasmine: “I third that motion. Welcome aboard.”
Oleg: “Thank you all so much for giving me this opportunity. Truth be told… You won’t be disappointed.”
Mindy: “Nelson you look amazing. Now you can do your thing and make that phone call.”
Nelson: “But of course. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that my friend Carson is in the office.” The phone starts to ring.
Receptionist: “Good morning. 106.6 Today’s Hits. How may I direct your call?”
Nelson: “Carson Gallagher please.”
Receptionist: “Who may I ask is calling?”
Nelson: “You can tell him that it’s Nelson Veilleux.”
Receptionist: “Of course sir. Right away sir. One moment.”
Carson G: “Nelson my friend. For what does the pleasure of this phone call bring? Is it to remind me that it’s your turn to buy the drinks tomorrow night?” As he asked with a chuckle.
Nelson: “No! No it’s not! But thanks for the reminder. The reason I am calling, and as I am sure you are aware, my sister Antionnette is opening up a salon and the grand opening is next Saturday. We all came to the conclusion that a radio spot might help promote the event and we’re wondering if you would be able to lend a hand in any way.
Carson G: “Thanks for thinking of my station. Well, less than a week isn’t near enough time to produce a commercial. However….I do have an idea that I am more than confident Antoinnette will approve of. My question is though, are you still a cheapskate. I promise that I will bill you modestly.”
Nelson: “Hardee har har! Very funny! Let’s hear your thought.”
Carson G: “I need just a few minutes to check the schedule for next Saturday. I’m going to hold that thought before I unveil my idea. I will call you back in a few minutes.”
After anxiously waiting for the phone to ring, they all sort of jumped when it did.
Carson G: “Nelson I checked the schedule. I can give you a live on location from 10 AM to 2 PM during the Mercedes & The Mongoose Morning Show. As
soon as you can, email me what material you want the radio personality Cassidy Strome to say on the air. How does that work for you?”
Nelson: “Carson my boy, I knew you could come through. I will speak to Antoinnette after I hang up with you for her approval. See you at the party tomorrow night. Oh… and I guess drinks are on me after all.”
Carson G: “Pleasure doing business with you my friend. I will draw up the contract today and bring it tomorrow for you to sign. Just remember not to forget your cheque book.”
Nelson: “Yes! Yes! I know… Of course.”
