After scrolling through Dio’s profile and gleaming over his body of work, she turned and shared his pictures with Mindy. She completely agreed with Jasmine’s assessment of his talent being truly remarkable.
Jasmine: “Mindy… I really need to reach out to this guy. By the way, can you come by the salon on Monday to meet my boss Antoinnette?”
Mindy: “I most certainly can.”
Jasmine: “Excellent! I will phone her up now and arrange for you to come in. It may also be helpful if you can bring with you a list of the products that you used at your last job. I’m sure that will prove to Antoinnette that you are more than ready.”
Mindy: “I can do that! I will see you Monday.”
Jasmine: “Perfect, see you Monday.” Jasmine thinks to herself, now it’s time to call the boss.
Later that evening Jasmine jumped on messenger to reach out to Dio Alavarez to come to the corner of Wentworth and Farnsborough for an interview. Not two minutes later she received a ping from her phone, an answer. Dio had responded with a big “muchas gracias senorita.” She thought to herself, wow that was easy.
Monday came around with Mindy already winning over Antoinnette and had already begun to order products to get her spa rolling. While putting together the order, a slight knock on the front door forced everyone’s attention to shift. It was Dio who was right on time for his interview and Jasmine motioned for him to come in. Antoinnette lowered her glasses and was taken by Dio’s apparel. She leaned over to Jasmine with an observant comment.
Antoinnette: “Dear! It’s July and 90 degrees outside. Why is he wearing that thick poncho with more colours than a peacock?”
Jasmine: “Remember, when I showed you his profile, you knew that he would boast a colourful persona.”
Dio strutted towards the two ladies only to say… “Holla Chickas!” As he extended his hand out. “I am Dio Alvarez from Puetro Rico!”
Antoinnette: “Excusez moi!!!! How did you address us… sir?” As she asks with a scowl.
Dio: “Oh! Excuse me lovely senoritas. I am Dio Alavaraz from Puetro Rico. I am very interested in working here when you’re ready to open. Muchas gracias Jasmine, for answering my message.”
Antoinnette: “That was much better! With her face more relaxed, she welcomes Dio to have a seat with the rest of them.”
Jasmine: “I took the liberty and glazed over the work you have done on your profile. Before you arrived, seeing Miss A has over 50 years experience, I showed her your work.
Antoinnette: “You are very polished! Since this is my project, I do have some important questions for you. First of all, why did you come all the way to Canada?”
Dio: “I spent nearly 5 years doing hair on a beach at the El Conquistador Resort on my island of Puerto Rico. I came to Canada to earn my diploma and I recently graduated this past May.” Can I expand more, there is an ‘importante’ reason why I would like to have this job?”
Jasmine: “Oh yes! She nods with anticipation and continues, “We would love to hear your story.”
Dio: Gracias … Well…. Here’s my story.
