Patiently waiting for Tess’ arrival to work, everyone was engaging with Genevieve. They were all taken by her elegance and charm. She offered a short snippet about the origin of Lyrics on LaChaumière, so captivating, the room briefly forgot Tess’s impending arrival, until her entrance snapped them from their enchantment, like an audience startled by a sudden stage light.
Tess: “Hey Everybody. What did I miss?”
Jasmine: “Hey Tess. Well… You’re about to find out. This is Genevieve. She is Miss A’s granddaughter. I did her wedding back in the summer. She has come to us with a bit of a proposition. We’d held off on unravelling all of the detail until you joined us. We wanted everyone to share in the revelation at once.”
Tess: “Oh.. This sounds exciting. Thanks so much for waiting for me. I’m truly feeling more and more a part of this team every day. Oh! Excuse me, Genevieve, it’s a pleasure to meet you.”
Genevieve: “Charmed as well. Now that Tess is here, I am very excited to spring my vision upon all of you.”
Jasmine: “The floor is all yours.”
Genevieve: “On Sunday December 14th, Lyrics on LaChaumiere is hosting a Christmas fundraiser for the Children’s Hospital. We have 7 models ready to strut their stuff on the runway in the main ballroom of the Renaissance Hotel. They will be wearing some of our most elegant fashions. Just A Purdy Face is set to weave their holiday magic into the models’ hair and makeup, their signature spark is exactly what we envisioned to bring this dream to life.”
Dio: “Wow!! That’s Mucho Grande!”
Jasmine: “I believe this is an incredible opportunity for us all, and that we could be the spark this project needs. But I want to hear your thoughts first: Does everyone feel the same? If so, are we ready to rise to the challenge together?”
Oleg: “Um.. I would say, absolutely, but I’m not a hairdresser. Still a little unclear as to how I fit in.”
Genevieve: “I thought of that ahead of time. I didn’t forget you Oleg. We need a handsome, dapper, and charming gentleman with a distinctive accent to be the master of ceremonies. Can I count on you to assume that roll?”
Oleg: Caught off guard, Oleg fumbled, ‘Well… I… That is… um…’ His words dissolved into a nervous laugh.”
Renata: “Oleg you silly!” While tugging on his shirt collar,
“This has your name written all over it. You will be awesome.”
Oleg: “You know… Yha? … Yha! I will do it… I will wear my best fedora!”
Genevieve: “Thank you! I just had a gut feeling that I could count on you.”
Mindy: “I have to decline, as it’s close to Christmas and I spend my Sundays with my ailing mom. She doesn’t get along so well these days.”
Jasmine: “Family always comes first, Mindy, your dedication to them speaks volumes.” She paused, her tone softening with sincerity. “And trust me, your expertise here is irreplaceable.” Turning to Tess, she brightened with a mix of mentorship and optimism. “But this does give us a chance to fast-track Tess’s training. Tess, how’d you feel about stepping up your role? By the show, you’ll handle three models with me shadowing you every step, and I’ll guide you through every detail until you’re flying solo. Think you’re up for it?”
Tess: “I am more than willing. It’s still several weeks away. With your awesome training, I can’t see how I could let the team down.”
Jasmine: With a huge confident smile, “It’s all settled Genevieve. You have your team for the show. Can you give me a couple days to price it out? I will provide tiny gift bags of sample products like lipstick wands, lip gloss, setting spray, blotting papers, and perfumes for the guests as part of the service.”
Genevieve: “I knew I could count on you, all of you. By the end of the evening, the 300 expected guests, will certainly know for sure who Just A Purdy Face is. Take your time with the receipt. I do believe this cheque I am about to hand you should be more than acceptable for everything your team is providing to make this show a success.”
Jasmine: “Are you serious?” As she looked, wide eyed, at the amount of the cheque.
Genevieve: “Very much so! I know you and your team will be worth every penny. I will let you all get back to work. I can’t wait to work with this group. I will see you all in about 6 weeks, and in the meantime we will stay in touch.”
