The most important aspect of spring fishing is to find the warmest water. Play the sun and the wind to your advantage. Try fishing a shallow bay that gets sun most of the day and even better if the wind is blowing the warm surface water into it. Over the years I have found that nothing warms up the water faster than a warm breeze. Fishing activity will pickup mid day into the evening being that the water will take some time to warm up. Nothing spills a spring bite like cold muddy water, get in the cleanest water you can find. In the spring it’s important that the lethargic fish can see your bait from further away since it will take more convincing for them to commit to a meal and spend the energy. Using these few tips can make a major impact on the success of your early spring adventures.
