“Late ice” is when you can catch your biggest fish of the year, especially toothy critters like walleye and pike. With the longer days providing more light and triggering a change in attitude in these predators they start to make the move near spawning grounds. So for a quick tip to catch some of the seasons biggest fish setup near the first main break adjacent to a spawning bay or creek bed. Look for shallow sand or gravel bottom, this will get your bait in front of some active pre-spawn fish. Good luck and stay safe.
