Fall is a special time of year for fishing. There are a couple patterns that make this so. One is that there becomes much less boat and recreational traffic onJeremy Logan Newman of Fish Cowboyz holding a freshly caught Musky while on his boat. the water which makes for less pressure and disturbance in the fishes environment. Two, the fish start to eat more frequently. Scientific studies have shown that in the fall period fish start to move and cover large distances in chasing baitfish in order to consume mass amounts of calories to gain weight and increase fat storage for the tough winter months that lay ahead. So even though the fish are eating more and larger meals this time of year it can seem that the fishing isn’t as good to the average angler. You will need to cover more and deeper water at this point in order to continue to successfully seek out and catch fish. Steeper drop-offs and main points extending out into the main basins will be frequently travelled destinations along the underwater highways this time of year. So if you don’t mind layering up and enjoying spots all to yourself then perhaps this is your special time of year to get out and catch some fish.
